Early Childhood Programs
Early Childhood includes Lil' Pioneers and the following Little Scholars Schools: Cactus View, Desert Springs, Desert Trails, Hidden Hills, Liberty, Mercury Mine, North Ranch, Quail Run and Sandpiper.
The Lil' Pioneers Child Development Center is at Pinnacle High School, 3535 E. Mayo, Phoenix, AZ 85050.

Head Start is a free program designed for low-income families and their children that provides education, health, nutrition and social services. Special services for children with disabilities are available. Head Start programs are located at Palomino, Campo Bello, and Echo Mountain Elementary. Title I Preschool is a federally funded program which provides instruction for students demonstrating educational needs. Child must be four years old by Sept. 1st of the calendar year, live within the PVUSD boundaries, and be at risk of failing to meet the State's challenging student performance standards. Title I Preschool is located at Arrowhead (602-449-2700), Cactus View (602-449-2500), Echo Mountain (602-449-5500), Indian Bend Elementary (602-449-3200) and Palomino Location (602-449-2211). Interested families should contact the individual schools for enrollment information.
Special Needs Preschool provides special education intervention services for 3, 4 , and 5 year-old children with special needs who are not yet eligible for kindergarten. Slots are also available for Typically Developing Preschoolers. Programs are located at various elementary schools. To schedule a screening contact the Special Needs Preschool Evaluation Center at (602) 449-2650. Spaces are limited. Vocational Preschool programs, located at North Canyon and Paradise Valley high schools, are designed to encourage the child's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Students have responsibilities similar to a private preschool program. The preschool portion of the program runs during the spring semester of the school year. High school students attend class five days a week while the preschool children attend three mornings per week. The vocational preschools are open to toilet-trained children of ages three to five years old. The Paradise Valley High location also accepts toilet-trained two year olds.
